BRENT BOWEN: At the Bowen Law Group, we handle all types of criminal cases, from traffic tickets, DWIs, drug cases, assaults, anywhere from attempted murder to murder charges.
I've been practicing criminal law for nearly 10 years. I've worked in county attorneys' offices, district attorneys' offices, as well as being in private practice for a number of years. Working for a district attorney's office is I believe a benefit to my clients. I understand how things are processed through that office, which sometimes benefits my clients, where I might be able to head off a charge before it's actually filed with the court.
There is no typical client that we deal with here at the Bowen Law Group. It's important when dealing with a client to understand what's going on in their lives and not just their criminal case. We try here at Bowen Law Group to get the clients the required counseling they may need or to benefit themselves as well as their case. Clients typically don't understand the severity of the matter that they're involved in. The range of punishment for offenses in Texas can be very different, depending on what type of charge they have. It's important for clients to understand when they're charged with a crime to immediately contact an attorney. They have certain rights that they need to protect. And they might not understand the criminal justice system.
